I spent November at ÖRES, a residency on the remote island of Örö in the Finnish archipelago, revisiting the Mushroom Trading Post project. Between editing picking stories collected over the years, writing new parts and falling down a John Cage rabbit hole, drawing mushrooms picked recently in Tampere and Sipoo, surprise mushroom finds (voitatti on the rocky shore and orakas, peeping out of the snow!), sourdough bread experiments, and morning sea swims with Uta and Daniela, I began concocting a set of collectible mushroom trading cards (mini versions of larger watercolours) that will help fund production of the book.
